Repair Locomotive Electrical Problems

Many locomotive problems are electrical in nature.  Loss of power at the pickups may cause starting and stopping of your locomotive.  Power problems may cause the locomotive to reset, causing the startup sounds to restart and the locomotive to pause.  Oxidation also causes many power problems.  Occasionally, a wire may get damaged, perhaps pinched by the shell and need replacing.  The wire may be a light, causing loss of that light.  At times, a short may melt a wire.  The short may be removed and the wire replaced.  Any damaged lights will be replaced.  Many times the exact light may not be available.  The closest match for the locomotive is used. This service restores all functions that are non-decoder in nature. Upon completion of the repair, we will upgrade your locomotives software to the most current version at no additional charge.

At times, the decoder may be at fault for a feature not working.  If the decoder is at fault, than it must be repaired or in many cases replaced to restore the lost functions. Please note that we only have Paragon 3 decoders, so if the decoder needs a replacement then often an upgrade would be required.

Please note that the charge for these repairs is for a locomotive that has not been disassembled by an unauthorized person. Additional fees may be incurred for self-inflicted locomotive damages. These additional charges must be authorized by the customer or TSD may return the damaged locomotive as it was received.
